Rules For Canadian Study Permit
1. Allowance for off-campus employment
During your academic program, study permit will allow up to 20-hours work off-campus in a week, and full-time employment during breaks. You have to study in an eligible institution to obtain a work permit.
2. Required enrollment and continuing attendance
As per the old rules, students need to show a full intention to their studies in Canada. But, according to the new and revised rules, students must have complete enrollment and attendance at an educational institution. You might face deportation if you do not follow the rules and regulations.
3. Restriction on stay after graduation
After completing education, students are not allowed to stay in Canada. A study permit expires after 90-days of your study completion. Thus, you are not permitted to remain in Canada with an invalid study permit. To stay legally in Canada, you must have a valid work permit or authorization from your designated province.
4. Co-Op Work Permits restriction
Co-Op Work Permits will be no longer available to any international student whose study program incorporates a co-op placement. The study program must be at a secondary school or other institution designated by the provincial or territorial government.
5. Authorization to work graduation
Students who want to apply for a Post-Graduation work permit can apply after completing their study program. All the holders of a study permit who apply for a Post-Graduation work permit are allowed to perform full-time employment.
